Issue 4
The comic will be a science fiction story that takes place on a space ship in space. I feel as though my lack of education won’t hinder this too much because I saw those Star Trek movies and, near as I can figure, if I make up random nonsense, I’m fine as long as I don’t try to explain it. In Star Wars everyone was cool with the force being magic. They only freaked out when JL tried to rationalize it. And Jar Jar. Jar Jar touched people in a vary bad way.
So, space is big, almost definitely cold, possible filled with spaghetti monsters, maybe electricity and cheese based planets. Other notes I’ve made: Planets all have the same gravity as Earth, yellow suns make people fly and bad aliens are uglier than humans. Also, aliens that have pointy ears are old and crafty just like elves but not actual elves because that’s nerdy fantasy nonsense. Public education. Job done.
As an artist I now realize the reason science fiction takes longer than contemporary stories is that I have to draw stuff that doesn’t exist. It’s hard to make unique space ships. Most of the good shapes have been taken. Blue box, saucers, long skinny things and alphabet fighters have all been taken… I think I’ll make a triangle looking one. I’m sure i’ve never seen that shape before… Drat.
To be continued.
